 A small family vineyard in Albany specialising in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  We are on a hillside facing the sun and close to the Southern Ocean. This combination gives unique characters to the cool climate grape varieties.  Barrel fermented in new French oak. This vintage has afresh fruit nose with intense and integrated palate. The fine oak characters complement the varietal fruit flavours and the crisp finish. A full riipe Pinot Noir style, showing a hint of cherry and integrated cedar oak on the nose. The palate is ripe and soft with excellent length. Javis Estate - Margaret River, Western Australia Nestled in the heart of the world-renowned Margaret River wine region in Western Australia, is Jarvis Estate, a boutique vineyard offering a superb range of wines. A world-class vineyard where the owners live amongst the vines, cultivating each crop by hand  Cabernet Franc is a traditional French variety that has the same, if not greater status as Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1965 scientist Dr John Gladstones identified the Margaret River as having natural conditions highly favourable for growing Cabernets. He made particular mention of the small sub-region of Bramley, where Jarvis Estate is today located. The 2005 vintage provided excellent growing conditions for our Cabernet Franc. The season was warm and dry, but not too hot to cause any of the berries to shrivel, resulting in a well balanced wine displaying great fruit flavour and varietal character. Rich ruby in colour this wine has lifted raspberry, blackcurrant, cherry and floral notes on the nose as well as a slight savouriness and lifted oak. As the wine opens up it develops more complex aromas of eucalyptus and liquorice. The palate is soft and rounded with integrated oak, cherries, blood plum and raspberry flavours providing a long and persistent finish. This wine is drinking very well now but will also reward patient cellaring for 7 - 10 years.  More a gravel track than a road, Wirring Road winds through the heart of the Margaret River wine region. A place where you have more chance of seeing a tractor than tourist. A combination of Margaret River grown cabernet, merlot, malbec and shiraz. A medium bodied premium red that shows typical Margaret River elegance and richness. Delightful notes of fruits of the forest, mulberry, blackberry and dark cherry. Has a strong backbone of fresh cut oak and a delicious minty chocolate note through the mid palate. A wine where elements of oak and fruit are perfectly balanced. Kinloch Wines - Upper Goulburn, Victoria A small family company established in 1996 on a picturesque property that looks down from the northern slopes of the Great Dividing Range in Central Victoria North East towards the town of Mansfield.  Premium cool climate wines are on offer such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Merlot and Cab/Merlot blends. The Cellar Door is an old hay barn converted into a rustic yet comfortable tasting room and restaurant. Light gourmet food platters are available that complement our cool climate wines.  This light to medium wine is matrued in old French oak barrels with delicate flavours reminscent of vanilla bean, ripe plums and white pepper. This wine variety, usually associated with the poduction of sparkling wine, produces a unique full table wine and with careful cellaring will develop savoury and trractive forest floor characteristics.  Pure Quality: Hand pruned, cane arched, leaf plucked, bunch thinned, hand picked ... that is just part of the care given to producing the best fruit possible to in turn make the level of quality that Lost Valley has become synonymous with.  A wine of rich, dense, crimson purple colour and elegant, luscious characters with perfectly ripened fruit and well-structured oak. The palate is concentrated yet smooth, with subtle, soft tannins running through big red berry fruit and more than a hint of white truffle chocolate, spearmint and black pepper, giving the wine great structure, balance and a luscious lingering length. Aged for 15 months first in new French barriques (75%) and then new prime American Oak. Drinks beautifully now and will mature well with further cellaring (to 15 years). Allow to breathe or decant if possible for at least 20 minutes after opening. Alc/Vol 14% Residual sugar 0.28g/L - pH 3.59. An almost perfect vintage, hot at the right times, meaning the vines come under the necessary stress during the growing period that leads to smaller berries and subsequent intensity of flavour. Wine: Straw yellow in colour with brilliant golden hues. Aromas of passion-fruit and Nashi pears are enhanced by orange-blossom and subdued citrus notes. The palate delivers crisp, balanced flavours of lemon zest and a hint of 'spritz' on the tongue, followed by a singular spice finish becoming golden and honeyed with age. Cellaring potential of up to 10 years. The perfect match to all crustaceans, game/shell fish, vibrant cheeses and assertively flavoured risotto. Bottled using screw-cap closures to maintain top wine quality and purity of flavours. Melaleuca Grove Wines are a small concern sourcing grapes from the Yarra and Yea Valleys of Victoria. Melaleuca Grove makes a range of award winning and critically acclaimed wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet and Shiraz.  Cabernet with a touch of Merlot and Shiraz. Oakway Estate - Geographe, Western Australia Oakway Estate's vineyard is situated on the slopes of the Capel River near Donnybrook in the South West of Western Australia. Known as the Geographe Region, the vineyard has Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grape varieties. It has been producing commercial wines since 2002.  Grown on the sunny slopes of the Capel River and matured in French Oak, this wine exhibits characteristics of cherry and mocha.  An elegant wine with aromas of melon, honey and spice. The palate offers peach and honey dew melon with a long, crisp finish. Jansz Estate – home of Naked Range Wines, was established in 1995 in Smiths Gully, located on the western fringe of the Yarra Valley, Victoria. The attraction of this area to wine makers comes from the natural combination of a cool yearly climate and the poor gravelly clay soils.  The wine is a blend of premium white grape varieties sourced from selected vineyards in the Yarra Valley. Chardonnay is the predominant variety, with 25% Sauvignon Blanc. The 2000 vintage was warm and dry. Good summer rains maintained healthy vines right throughout the growing season. The result is a well-balanced, crisp wine that can be consumed with a variety of foods. The aroma has lifted tropical fruit characters and finishes clean and crisp. Enjoy this wine chilled as it reflects the true nature of Australia: warm, bright and full of energy.  Chardonnay is one variety best suited to the Yarra Valley climate. The area produces tightly structured wines that often have the ability age well. The 2001 Chardonnay is the result of a warmer than average year, producing a wine that has plenty of fruit richness and ripe characters. Deep straw in colour with vibrant green tinges. Oak plays a minor part in this wine. This is a fruit driven chardonnay. The nose displays an abundance of stone fruit and juicy pineapple characteristics. The palate reveals some interesting sherbet like complexities, coupled with succulent melon flavours. Norse Wines - Wide Bay Burnett, Queensland Norse Wines is a small family operated winery. Patrice Wines - North East Victoria, VictoriaPatrice Wines is located in North-Eastern Victoria, nesteld in the soft slopes of the Baranduda Range. The vineyard was established in 2000 utilising the latest developments in viticculture. Our goal is to produce high quality Durif, using very gentle irrigaton and organic fertilisers.  A dense, dark full bodied red wine with aromas of spicy blackberries and soft blueberries. The flavours of sweet ripe berries mingle with the soft vanillin French oak notes, leading to a complex lingering finish. A wine to be enjoyed at room temperature and consumed in moderation with richly flavoured dishes and roasts. Pooley Wines - Southern Tasmania, Tasmania  The vineyard is ideally located facing northeast over looking the Coal River in southeastern Tasmania and on the 43.5 latitude line. At 130 meters above sea level, the vineyard is ideal for growing cool climate varieties. Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay are their specialty.  Their overall philosophy at Rickety Gate Wines would be best summarised as "No compromises". They have their own highly tended estate vineyard in Denmark W.A. which is planted to Merlot, Riesling, Pinot & Chard. They also have their own Estate Winery where their winemaker, Mr. John Wade plies his craft.  This 2nd vintage has seen the purple-red colours of the wine deepen increasing the depth of character. Showing aromas of fine chocolate, ripe plums and dark cherries are in balance with the fresh vanillin flavours of French oak. The wine suits flavoursome dishes such as meat pastas and lamb orientated foods. With good cellaring the wines optimum drinking will occur between 5-7 years although it provides enormous enjoyment in its youth.  The fruit for this delicate Riesling was meticulously nurtured on Rickety Gate's Estate Vineyard in Denmark. Floral aromas with nice lime characters and a hint of zesty lemon blend together to produce an elegant and flavoursome wine style. This wine has a lingering persistence and complements seafood, shellfish and white meats.  Boutique Winery, 200 tonnes, specializing in vineyard integrity wines of Semillon, Chardonnay barrel fermented in French Oak and in addition a seperated barrel fermented American Oak Chardonnay, Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvingnon. Multi show award winning wines.  A long cold ferment has produced a premium Semillon with youthful green hues and straw in colour, which has been achieved from our own winery equipment allowing early processing of the grapes. The bouquet shows lifted citrus of lemon, lime and grapefruit aromas. The palate supports the aromas of citrus lemon and grapefruit with a fine acid balance producing lingering flavours with a crisp finish.  This pleasant and comfortable wine has been fermented and matured in one to four-year-old French oak barriques for 9 months. The colour is a vibrant lemon gold with green reflexes in youth, complimenting the bursting aroma with ripe tropical grapefruit and nuttiness. Its creamy texture gives the wine voluptuous mouth feel, leaving a sweet cleansing after taste. Rosenvale Wines - Barossa Valley, South Australia Rosenvale Wines is a family-owned business that markets the wine made from grapes grown by the Rosenzweig Family Vineyards in the Barossa Valley. Great wines start in the vineyard and with their own selection of vineyards, they are able to select the best parcels of grapes to make outstanding wines.  This wine was made from Cabernet vines planted in 1960 that yield around two tonnes per acre of fruit. The fruit was picked at the flavour point we wanted then crushed and fermented, with the final ferment done in French and American oak. After ferment and racking, the wine is left to age for around 12 to 18 months in shaved barrels. This Barossa Cabernet is a medium weight wine with great colours, mocha and blackberries on the nose, translating to blackcurrants and red fruits amongst tobacco, coffee and herb flavours on the palate. Finishing dry but with a perception of sweetness from the Barossa region. Soft tannins, firm acid, nice palate structure and finishing on blackcurrants.  Vines planted in 1940 give this Semillon a depth of flavour only found in the old clones of this variety. The grapes are harvested very early in the morning and processed cold, then lightly crushed and pressed and allowed to settle before ferment. After enjoying a long cool ferment to retain flavours, the wines are filtered and bottled under screw cap. This Semillon is an unwooded style wine made dry with naturally higher acidity. It is crafted around the ripened fruit flavours of pears and apples with underlying lemon and limes. Crisp dry mouth feel. Tingle-Wood Wines - Great Southern, Western Australia Tingle-Wood, the pioneer vineyard in the Denmark viticultural region, was planted in 1976 by Bob & Judy Wood. Since 1980 it has produced classic dry Rieslings, sweet Riesling, and Cabernet-Sauvignon/Shiraz red blends, often winning gold, silver or bronze in various wine shows.  A 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. This wine is a dark ruby colour with crimson hue. An intense nose of pepper, cinnamon and plum fruits combining with a ripe fruit palate of dark berries. Toasty oak is evident with good persistence of flavour. Will age well.  This 2001 Vintage Great Southern Riesling has a highly aromatic floral nose with distinct perfume characters along with sherbet flavours. The well-structured palate of intense citrus fruit is complexed by floral characters and slight apple notes with a good persistance of flavour. Tranquil Vale - Lower Hunter Valley, New South Wales Boutique vineyard (40 Tonne), situated on the banks of the Hunter River at Luskintyre. Specialising in Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz. Also available in limited qauantities Sparkling, Shiraz blends and dessert wine.  Mid-gold in colour, the nose displays lifted honeydew and vanilla. The palate is refined and elegant with good structure, showing stone fruit and citrus characters. 85% French 15% American oak gives a slightly spicy character to this fruit driven wine which finishes with hints of peach and vanilla.  A big welcome to Protero Wines - Adelaide Hills, South AustraliaThis is a small Family owned vineyard, established in 1998. Their Award Winning Wines are made from fruits from their vineyard only. They harbour a deep respect for this land, hence our dedication to "Chemical Free Viticulture". As of early 2008 they are seeking full "Organic Certification".  Louise Radman: Fringe Festival - Roll up to the performance in our own East End with the 2006 Protero Chardonnay. It's slamming poetry - papaya and exotic tropical fruits leap with lyrical lightness. Dazzling minerality and gentle softness reveal pure genius of form. It's ideal with salt-crusted salmon fillet baked in pastry.  Gary Walsh: This is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. I like Adelaide Hills Merlot and this wine is further proof (or encouragement) that growers should persist or even plant more of it. Pretty and perfumed with ripe plum, berry, licorice, dried mint, camphor and cedary vanilla oak. On the palate medium to full bodied with sweet juicy plum and berry fruit, licorice and dried herbs. It's ripe and creamy with a fresh acid bite, a little warm alcohol, and firm smooth tannins. Finishes with a plum and chocolate aftertaste and a slightly bitter herbal twist. A lovely wine with plenty of charm and character.  Philip White: This is NOT one of your simple apricot or peach syrup viogniers. Easily one of the best Australian expressions of this generally misunderstood and mismanaged varieties, this pleasantly syrupy, chalky wine is stacked with nuances of many fruits and spices. It's hearty - almost boisterous - but remains elegantly balanced and harmonious, right through to that alluring aftertaste of fine tannin, buttery Anjou pear, gentle limy acidity, and alcohol. Vasse River Wines - Margaret River, Western Australia A family owned vineyard situated in the Vasse - Carbunup area, a northern part of the Margaret River wine region. The first vine plantings were established in 1988 in rich gravely loam soils.  A wonderful year for both the Cabernet and Merlot varieties in the vineyard. A dark bright red berry colour with aromas of blackcurrant, wild blackberry and mulberries. A hint of chocolate and smokey bacon characters linger on the palate.  A rich full bodied wine, this wine is well integrated with oak and the tannins are refined and well balanced. The Verdelho displays an exquisite straw colour with a hint of green freshness. A bountiful aroma of guava and lychees present a citrus crispness. The palate is rich and full again showing tropical fruits and peaches. A crisp clean finish displays a good Verdelho wine. On the palate fresh flavours of nectarine and guava are balanced by soft acidity and an attractive mouthfeel. Showing good length of flavour and a juicy aftertaste on the finish, this wine is very appealing and is a fine accompaniment to light white meat dishes, including fish and shellfish.  Dry red wine - 100% Shiraz spent 18 months in French oak barrels before being bottled. Can be cellared for up to 10 years Shiraz 2004 - Very deep purple with crimson hues. Light white pepper, blackberries, mulberries and spice aromas are evident with hints of fine oak. Whitsend Estate - Yarra Valley, Victoria Located in the heart of the Yarra Valley, producing super premium low yielding fruit for use in select labels.  A small portion of the crop is retained by Ross and Trish Baldwin for their own Whitsend label. They do not make wine every year, preferring to concentrate on the great years. 2004 Cabernet is a great wine. Rated 94 points in the 2007 James Halliday Wine Companion Soft acid, new French oak, which shows forward as vanilla flavours. Citrus fruits and apples. Subtle acid treatment. A great wine to have as an aperitif or with white meat. Winbourne Wines - Hunter Valley, New South Wales The Winbourne vineyard was planted between 1996 and 1999 and now comprises 143 acres of beautiful healthy vines.  The vineyard comprises the Winbourne block and the Melness Block. Recognised Hunter varieties of Semillon, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are grown.  Big congratulations to Kalleske Wines from the team of Boutique Wineries. The Barons of the Barossa announced today the winemaker of the year, Troy Kalleske. Impressive aromas of perfumed Grenache grapes, red roses, cinnamon spice, turkish delight, raspberry and a hint of chocolate emanate from the glass. This Italian varietal was planted originally in Piedmont (as well as other areas of Italy), but has traveled widely. Probably one of the most underrated grapes in the world, Barbera can be used to make an incredible range of styles, ranging from young and spritzy to powerful and intense wines that need extended cellaring. It is a deep ruby color, full bodied, with low levels of tannins balanced by higher levels of acidity. Barbera is charactarized by bright berrylike flavors and is one of the best alternatives to overcropped and overpriced Merlot. Boggy Creek Barbera (2004) - Rich and refreshing with black cherry and tobacco leaf and ripe tomato flavour mellowed with French oak. With soft tannins this wine is suited to many and various foods.  Boggy Creek Vineyards is a boutique family vineyard established in 1978 to grow premium traditional French and new Italian varieties. These include Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Barbera, & Sangiovese. Wines are made to reflect the traditional yet innovative characters of the style. Wines from the Sangiovese can be medium- to full-bodied and medium to high in tannin. Typically they are characterized by cherry and spice flavors, sometimes with hints of violet, and sometimes even slightly nutty. Sangiovese wines are constantly evolving, depending on where the grapes were grown and what, if any, additional grapes are blended with them.  Sweet Berry Red (2004) This wine is made from Sangiovese grapes a Varietal that is believed to have originated in the Tuscany Region of Italy. This "drink anytime" sweet red wine with its raspberry and blackberry characters can be served chilled but try it at room temperature! This wine is ready for drinking now. Kingsley Grove Vineyard & Winery lies within the South Burnett Wine Region of Queensland located on the Bunya Highway close to Kingaroy, 2 1/2 hours drive from Brisbane. The vineyard, established in 1998 is on red soil, 430 metres above sea level and has eight varieties planted on 22.5 acres (8.9 hectares). This noble white varietal has flavors all its own and texture that can easily match the most full-bodied chardonnay. Some are fermented in stainless steel tanks and have no wood treatment, which results in a precise, aromatic, crisp wine that shows off the peach and apricot flavors of the grape. Many producers have also used wood barrels to ferment or age the wine, adding further complexities and complements to the fruits natural flavors. Notes of anise, tangerine and fig blend with spicy aromas. Some Viogniers can be feminine and some quite brawny. The region of origin is also an important factor to the varying styles, with warmer regions producing riper wines and cooler retaining more acidity and precision. True of almost all however, is that they are best when consumed fairly young. Viognier - Marsanne (2004) - Totally unwooded, aromas of apricot, orange peel, almond and fennel seed. 60% Viognier and 40% Marsanne, rich full body, round full palate with a spicy lingering finish. Little River Winery were purchased by the de Tastes family of Bordeaux in 1993 bringing over a 1000 years of family winemaking history to Little River to craft wines of distinct finesse and elegance. Telarah Wines, Bylands Shiraz (2004)
After an amazing day at Boutique Wineries we enjoy a flavoursome Shiraz from Telarah Wines.  The elegant pepper and spice cool climate wine made from fruit grown at the Telarah vineyard on the Bylands Plateau, Kilmore, Victoria. Complex berry flavours with a dusting of pepper and spice as a result of a long slow ripening of the fruit. 12 months in French and American oak has added subtle tannins to this wine. Drinking very nicely now but will cellar for the next five to ten years. On the nose, the wine has hints of berries, fresh straw with spring flower frequencies. On the tongue the palette shows heavy tannin, a longish finish with strong typically peppery Shiraz tones. In the glass the legs are robust and plentiful, indicating good cellaring potential for another few years. The colour shows a rich maroon sparkle with deep blood purple hues. This is a rapacious wine. Telarah Wines is a winery specialising in producing cool climate wines and is situated on the Bylands Plateau on the Great Dividing Range, three Kilometres south of Kilmore, Victoria. The grapes are harvested, usually late April, and processed externally under the watchful eye of the vigneron Brendan Woodley. Cool climate wines are renown for their unique flavour because of the longer and later ripening period. They planted the vineyards in 1997, so they are now starting to see the results of the efforts in the vineyard reflected in the wines. They have Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Shiraz planted. The vineyards are at an altitude of four hundred metres which tends to give them a much cooler and generally slower growing season. Their wines are sold under the Bylands Label. Marzemino - Australian rare wineMarzemino is a red wine grape that is primarily grown around Isera, south of Trentino. The wine is most noted for its mention in the opera Don Giovanni. The vine ripens late and is susceptible to oidium. Wine produced from the grape has a characteristic dark tint and light plummy taste.   Michelini Marzemino (2005) Deep red purple colour, the nose displays ripe chocolate, marzipan and cassis notes, with full mouthfeel and persistent flavours. Michelini Wines is situated in the heart of the cool Alpine Valleys in NE Victoria. Michelini Wines continues a family winemaking tradition spanning over 150 years. The cellar door is housed in an Italian style villa, and wines produced include Fizz, Chardonnay, Merlot, traditional Marzemino and the unique Fragolino. Tempranillo - Australian rare wineThis variety is capable of producing deeply colored, richly flavored and ageworthy wines with flavors of dark cherry, spice, tobacco, and strawberry. Fairly low in acid and alcohal levels, Tempranillo is often blended with other grape varieties such as Garnacha (Grenache) Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.  Gran Tinto (2003) from Vinifera Wines - a medium bodied red, a blend of Spanish varieties & Cabernet Sauvignon. Savoury, blackberry & dark chocolate flavours & fine tannins. Vinifera Wines - Mudgee vineyard specializing in Spanish grape varieties, Tempranillo, Graciano & Garnacha. Multi award winning Chardonnay, Semillon & Cabernet Sauvignon. Zinfandel - Australian rare wine Zinfandel is a "new-world" grape varietal that been around for a long time. The wines are big, robust, and incredibly concentrated. You will find wines that have depth, color, concentration and balance as well as those exotic spices so unique to zins. They are drinkable now, but will certainly not wilt in the cellar. Think pizza, rib-eye steak and especially..summer barbeques!  Peel Estate Zinfandel (2003) - The nose is full of licorice, leather, chocolate - and a touch of camphor. There's the trademark licorice on the palate, but you'd never believe this was 16.5 per cent alcohol as there's not a trace of portiness either. The best thing is the 1970s-style tannin buzz on your lips - that's a rarity in these tannin-controlled days. This is a restrained Peel zin, but with all the usual flavour goodies. Not quite Zin-Lite, but you might actually get to a second bottle of this one. Peel Estate  - This magnificent Winery was the first to be established between Perth and Bunbury. A colonial style building with a mezzanine tasting area in peaceful surrounds. A BBQ can be enjoyed with your wine under the majestic Tuart Gums. Good evening! As one of the oldest family wineries in the famous Margaret River wine region, Moss Brothers states that their flagship wines are their Semillon and Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot. However, I cannot go past their Jane Moss Rose as an easy-drinking wine, great for these hot summer months. Smooth and subtly fruity with hints of summer fruits. A pleasant drop. The label reads:
Jane Moss joins the 'Rose Renaissance' with this delicious wine. This rose will delight with a cascade of sweet floral and summer berry aromatics and flavours. The wine finishes crisp and dry. Serve chilled." Only 100 - 500 bottles of this wine are produced each year, which truly is a "boutique wine". Limited stocks mean this wine goes very quickly. Dolcetto - Australian rare wineThis varietal is an early ripening, low-acid red grape variety that generally poduces wines that are soft, round, fruity, and fragrant, with flavors of licorice, almonds, and plums. Generally made to drink young, Dolcetto can often provide good quality, deep ruby and purple colored wines that are very reasonably priced.  Gabrielle Dolcetto (2006) - The 2006 season saw the Dolcetto grapes flourish at Catherine Vale and the vintage proved outstanding.  Dolcetto wines have stunning colour being soft, round, fruity and fragrant with flavours of anise and almond. This one is exceptional and should be enjoyed in the first two or three years. For variation try it lightly chilled as a luncheon red. Catherine Vale Vineyard is located near BROKE in the Hunter Valley of NSW and enjoys sweeping views of the area. Bill and Wendy Lawson grow premium Semillon and Chardonnay grapes with Verdelho on line in 2004. They are also pioneering the Italian red grape varieties Barbera and Dolcetto. Grenache - Australian rare wineGrenache (pronounced gren-ash) is probably the most widely planted variety of red wine grape in the world. It ripens late, so needs hot, dry conditions such as those found in Spain and in the south of France. It is generally spicy, berry-flavoured and soft on the palate with a relatively high alcohol content, but it needs careful control of yields for best results. It tends to lack acid, tannin and colour, and is usually blended with other varieties such as Syrah, Carignan and Cinsaut.  Five Geese McLaren Vale Grenache Shiraz (2003) A generous fruity wine with a balanced palate. The warmth of the dry grown grenache is beautifully complemented by the peppery spice of the shiraz giving a wine of silky texture and lingering finish.  Five Geese are specialised in red wine which is made at Boars Rock at McLaren Vale. Boars Rock is a state-of-the-art wine making facility. Fruit for the wine is sourced from the Director's vineyards in the McLaren Vale region. Nebbiolo - Australian rare wine Nebbiolo generally makes powerful and intense wines, although generally with medium body and color. These wines are high in tannins and acids, they often need several years of bottle age before they are ready to drink. They often have aromas and flavors of raspberries, plums, earth, roses, and tar.  Parish Hill Nebbiolo (2004) - Medium bodied red wine with fine mouth filling tannins and long lasting flavours of chocolate cherry liqueur, plum and liquorice enhanced by an aroma of rose petals as the wine undergoes its journey in the glass. Parish Hill Wines  produce premium Australian wines from Italian vines grown in the vineyard at Uraidla in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. They are licensed to crush 15 tonnes of grapes each vintage, so have only small quantities of each of their unique wines. All wines have screw caps for longer freshness. This variety of rare red wines is really interesting, but this is what marks our boutique wineries here in Australia. Chenin Blanc have a beguiling fresh fruit character with hints of pears, peaches and fresh grapes that is utterly charming. Chenin Blanc can be made in a full range of styles from dry and crisp to semi-sweet and fruity to full blown late-harvest dessert wines. You can detect honey, straw and even exotic scents like oil of Bergamot (think Earl Grey tea) in the best examples.  Trappers Gully 2004 Chenin Blanc Wonderfully aromatic with a tropical fruit palate and lively acid finish. TrappersGully is a small family operated boutique vineyard & winery in Mt Barker WA with magic terroir and a meticulous approach to Growing of the Vine & the Making of the Wine. Trappers Gully only use premium hand selected fruit for making varietal wines of oustanding quality.
 Peel Estate Wood Matured Chenin blanc (2002) How this wine has blossomed! The nose is floral, with honeysuckle and some intriguing damp earth. This is a very complex and attractive bouquet. The palate is velvety and perfectly balanced. I doubt this wine will be better than it is now - but it will hold for a long time. It's very ripe and quite alcoholic, so it needs food to show at its best. I'd put it up against something very rich like pasta with a carbonara sauce or a fish curry, especially one with almonds.  Lavender Wine (2004) - A clean fruit driven style wine with subtle apple undertones and lifted floral characters enhanced with the inclusion of Lavandula Angustifolia, the wine finishes slightly dry with a pleasant hint of sweetness.  Abbey Rock Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot (2004) - the bright crimson colour is supported with a complex aroma of blackberry, cherry and mulberry with the promise of chocolate and mint as well as developed cedar, earth and spicy overtones. The palate has supple mouth feel, with elegance and great length while delivering a balance between the intense Cabernet, the softer Merlot fine tannins and the integrated oak.  Barking Owl Cabernet Merlot Malbec (2004) - Deep ruby red in colour with intense varietal blackcurrant and black fruit aromas overlying spicy, vanillin oak. The soft, ripe tannins are well supported by rich blackcurrant and redcurrant fruit. A medium to full-bodied wine with very good balance, structure and integration of oak.  The finish is dry and long. Millbrook Winery, located in the Perth Hills wine region of Western Australia, is only 50 minutes southeast of Perth. On special is their Hazy Mountain Merlot (2004). A wine of rich, dense, crimson purple colour and elegant, luscious characters with perfectly ripened fruit and well-structured oak. The palate is concentrated yet smooth, with subtle, soft tannins running through big red berry fruit and more than a hint of white truffle chocolate, spearmint and black pepper, giving the wine great structure, balance and a luscious lingering length. Aged for 15 months first in new French barriques (75%) and then new prime American Oak. Drinks beautifully now and will mature well with further cellaring (to 15 years). Allow to breathe or decant if possible for at least 20 minutes after opening. Alc/Vol 14% Residual sugar 0.28g/L - pH 3.59.

Very old LIQUEUR MUSCAT (NV) from Romavilla Winery: With an average age exceeding 15 years, the palate is warm, dense and rich with lovely fruit, spirit and oak integration. Well balanced with fine structure and lovely persistent aftertaste. GOLD medal awarded by Winestate 2005.
- Peel Estate Zinfandel (2003) from Peel Estate: The nose is full of licorice, leather, chocolate - and a touch of camphor. There's the trademark licorice on the palate, but you'd never believe this was 16.5% alcohol as there's not a trace of portiness either. The best thing is the 1970s-style tannin buzz on your lips- that's a rarity in these tannin-controlled days. This is a restrained Peel zin, but with all the usual flavour goodies. Not quite Zin-Lite, but you might actually get to a second bottle of this one.
 Lyre Bird Hill Pinot Noir Cellar Reserve (2002) from Lyre Bird Hill Winery The Winemakers comment: Intense pinot flavours make this the best ever
 Killerby Chardonnay (2002) from Killerby Vineyards: The 2002 Chardonnay is from the old, low-yielding vines at Margaret River and Geographe. The vines are hand-pruned and the fruit was hand-picked. The fruit was whole bunch pressed to obtain a finer juice, then 100% barrel fermented in new French oak. It was aged in the world's finest new and one-year-old French oak barrels for ten months. The colour is light straw with a tinge of green. The nose has big, lifted, toasty oak aromas and is reminiscent of peaches with buttery notes in the background. The palate leads with charry, toasty oak flavours. Behind this are melon and peach notes with hints of clove. The wine has a rich and full mouth-feel. The finish is toasty and vanillan.  Hubertus Reserve Shiraz (2004) from Foggo Wines: This wine is a blend from 70yr old and 90 yr old dry grown vines. The fruit was hand picked ,open barrel fermented, lightly pressed and matured in French Oak for 19 months. A rich nose with dusty oak characters. A big flavoursome palate with blackberry fruit combines with sweet oak a warm drying finish.

 Barking Owl Semillon Sauvignon Blanc (2006) from Millbrook Winery: Very light straw and bright in colour, this classic Western Australian blend exhibits fresh melon, passionfruit and tropical fruit salad aromas. Dry, with a crisp, fresh and wonderfully lingering backbone of flavour. Apple, pear and melon fruits are interwoven with the small component of barrel-fermented Semillon which produces subtle spicy, citrus oak flavours to the wine.
 Bluestone Lane Pinot Noir (2005) from Bluestone Lane Vineyard: The Wine displays a brilliant garnet colour, with rich lifted berry and floral aromas. The palate shows succulent raspberry, savoury and floral flavours persisting for a considerable length of time. A Mornington Peninsula, regional classic Pinot Noir. Pinot this good, originates only from the Mornington Peninsula.

Telarah Wines is a winery specializing in producing cool climate wines and is situated on the Bylands Plateau on the Great Dividing Range, three kilometres south of Kilmore,Victoria. The grapes are harvested, usually late April, and processed externally under the watchful eye of their vigneron Brendan Woodley. Cool climate wines are renown for their unique flavour because of the longer and later ripening period. They planted the vineyards in 1997, so they are now starting to see the results of our efforts in the vineyard reflected in their wines. They offer Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Shiraz. An elegant pepper and spice cool climate wine made from fruit grown at Telarah vineyard on the Bylands Plateau, Kilmore, Victoria. Complex berry flavours with a dusting of pepper and spice as a result of a long slow ripening of the fruit. 12 months in French and American oak has added subtle tannins to this wine. Drinking very nicely now but will cellar for the next five to ten years.

 What an honour for us to welcome Topper's Mountain Wines. They just joined today www.BoutiqueWineries.com.au, the online website for Australian boutique wines. They are a cool climate vineyard north of Tingha (near Inverell) in northern NSW in the fledgling New England GI. Topper's Mountain Wines are on the western edge of the New England Tablelands at an altitude of 900m asl. The vineyard is on beautiful, deep, red volcanic soils high above the valleys of the MacIntyre & Gwydir Rivers. Their specialties are Tempranillo and Gewuerztraminer.
 Thunderbolt's Riesling Traminer (2005): This semi-sweet white wine is a blend of 75% Riesling and 25% Gewurztraminer.
