Australian Wine Review - 2005 Reserve Chardonnay by Mt Jagged Wines - Buy Australian Wine Online
2005 Reserve Chardonnay - Buy Australian Wine OnlineGood evening! It has been raining today in Brisbane and so right now this full bodied Chardonnay is going down a treat. Mt Jagged Wines, from Fleurieu, South Australia, one of our most recent wineries, bottled this beauty in 2005 and it will really hit it's legs in another 5 years or so. The Fleurieu Peninsula region and Mt Jagged Wines have produced a high quality, heavily oaked white with strong complex flavours. It is still a green wine, though it has all the hallmarks of becoming a classic after a period of cellaring. I can imagine the caramel flavours and golden straw colours coming out very nicely. The Chardonnay grape holds a complex and sophisticated palet. A commendable wine. On the label: Made solely from our highest block of IV10 clone Chardonnay at the Mt Jagged Vineyard. Fermented in new and seasoned French oak and left on lees for ten months with regular lees stirring to make a smooth and tight Chardonnay to be the best representation of the soil and climate from the vintage.
Only 250 dozen made. Enjoy! Mt Jagged have used a screw top closure with this, and it won't do any harm whatsoever.
As a winemaking family dynasty Mt Jagged Wines is a Family owned and operated vineyard and winery that focuses on single site cool climate Shiraz, Chardonnay, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot/Cabernet and Sparkling wines (both Red and White). The Mt Jagged vineyard sits near the coast on the Fleurieu Peninsula at 350m above sea level. Thanks for reading my review and feel free to post your own comments to our blog. Bill and Wendy Lawson grow premium Semillon and Chardonnay grapes with Verdelho on line in 2004. They are also pioneering the Italian red grape varieties Barbera and Dolcetto. Their Semillon possesses flavours typical of the region and variety showing citrus undertones. Fresh slatey mouthfeel and piercing acidity balance well with the creamy characteristics of extended lees contact. Winemaker John Hordern has used this great Hunter variety to produce the traditional and distinctive regional wine style so unique to this valley. Enjoy the crisp and refreshing features now or cellar for up to 7 years and buy this wine online. Another wine of Catherine Vale's Vineyard is available on our website. It features tropical fruit characteristics, pear, chestnut with a fresh crisp finish. Wine to be enjoyed in its youth. A light oak finish to the wine adds to its drinking pleasure. Jim Mc Mahon reviewed the Verdelho as: Vibrant green/straw/yellow in colour. The nose is awash with a fruit salad plate. The palateis a follow - on from the nose which is awash with lemon/limes,apricots,pineapple and passionfreuit with slight hints of guava. The finish is firm with planty of acidity and tropical fruit flavours. For a pretty good price of only $130 you can buy wine online, a whole case. Catherine Vale Vineyard offers a mixed case with the best of their best white wines. This case includes 4 Verdelho (2006), 4 Chardonnay (2006) and 4 Semillon (2006). Australian Wine Review - Sandstone Semillon
Top Australian Wine: Sandstone Wine ReviewGood evening! Today on this fine Australia Day I am reviewing the 2001 Semillon from Sandstone - a top Australian winery, in Margaret River, Western Australia. On the label: Tardy. Vivacious. Walnut. Vanilla. Longevity. Peachy. With the semantics complete, our broader philosophy is that wine shouldn't be taken too seriously. Great wine is made better by the company of good friends and good food. In a world that is moving faster, please take time to relax and enjoy our wine and while we are the supporters of moderation we also believe that if the temptation to open another bottle is too great, just do it. We do!"
With a screw top closure, this wine is a fine example of a nicely aged Semillon wine. The nose presents a subtle smoothness and aroma whilst the smooth texture and palate are highly notable on the tongue. This is a fine example of a well cellared beauty. Unfortunately no long in stock, if you can get hold of it then grab it quick. Another Australian wine classic. Sandstone is a small owner operated winery specialising in straight varietals. At the same time not too serious, it's all about enjoyment and having fun!! Have you tasted this Semillon from Sandstone or a similar Australian wine Semillon? Post your own review in the comments of this blog. Warm regards, Jeremiah Josey Wine Reviewer

Try a different - Australian Red Wine - from Milhinch Wines
This Australian red wine is different. That's why you can find it on Boutique Wineries. The winery where it is from is Milhinch Wines, a small innovative producer with a 10 acre vineyard adjacent to the Greenock Creek and located along Gerald Roberts Road, Seppeltsfield, near the historic Seppelt Winery in the western Barossa Valley. The Australian red wine I would like to introduce to you is a Cabernet Rose. Seize the Day - Cabernet Rose is made from Milhinch Wines estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon fruit which was harvested in March 2007. The grapes were crushed and held on skins for 2 days to achieve optimal juice colour. Delicate handling under cold conditions was employed throughout the entire winemaking process. Fermentation was arrested at a a residual sugar level of 11.4gm/Litre and the wine held at 1-3 degrees prior to bottling on 29th of May 2007. Minimum sulphites were added as preservative. The alc/vol is 12.5% Total production: 690 cases. Winemakers Notes: This rose is vibrant crimson in colour with fragrant summer berry aromas, rich raspberry, strawberry and cherry flavours with leafy notes. The wine has a delicious and lingering finish. Subtle, attractive residual sugar is balanced by crisp, fresh acid. Best served slightly chilled. This Australian red wine won one Silver Medal Top of Class - 2007 Boutique Wines of Australia Wine Awards and two Bronze Medals, at the Cowra Wine Show and the 2007 Winewise Small Vigneron Awards. Wine Store Online Introduces Waruna from Mornington Peninsula
Cabernet Sauvignon from Waruna at the Wine Store OnlineGood evening! One of the advantages of being involved with this wine store online is the rate at which I am introduced to such a variety of good quality wines, that I otherwise would never know about. An example of this is one of our most recent members, Waruna, from Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Their Waruna Cabernet Sauvignon is a very commendable wine. I was initially a little taken back by their wine label and logo which is very simple. But don't let this fool you. This wine is a very enjoyable wine. Their label has this description: Traditional winemaking methods including ageing in French Oak barrels, have accentuated the fruits character to produce a full bodied wine with rich red colour and fine tannins. Well balanced with a long smooth finish, it is a great wine for any occasion." And I agree, this is a very easy drinking wine that will go well on any occasion. It is finding these hidden gems that makes it exciting to be a part of this online wine store. Waruna's wines are made using traditional methods to create a handcrafted product. Their winemaking philosophy is based upon a minimalist approach; and for them this means wines are kept on their lees and use of sulphides as a preservative is kept to a minimum. Thanks for reading my review and feel free to browse our number one online wine store. Warm regards, Josefine BoutiqueWineriesWhatever you do, do with all your mighty - Marcus Tullius Cicero

Kanjara - Australian Shiraz
Established in 1988, the Ibis and Habitat Vineyards produce a large range of red and white wines. They attach importance to older and unusual varieties. And I think I tried one unusual one last night. This strong flavour .. uuhhh. This is an Australian Shiraz you won't forget. But let me describe it. I chose the Ibis "Kanjara" Shiraz from 2001. The winemaker put these words on the label: The grapes for this wine come from the low vigour Kanjara vineyard at an altiude of 830 metres. Plum blackberry tar tobacco and smoke - this wine is full of strong flavours overlaying nicely integrated french oak.The wine has good balance and a warm long finish. A good accompaniment to strong meat dishes and cheeses. Ok, I didn't have strong cheese or meat at home, just this Australian Shiraz. And yes, I can recommended to you, if you are a lover of strong wines. I am always impressed, how they can put all these flavours into wine. This Australian Shiraz is available for only $18 a bottle, or even only $17 a bottle when u buy a case of them. Try it and let us know how you think about these strong flavours! Wine Review - 2004 Mt Jagged Wines Bullock Road Cabernet Shiraz - Buy Australian Wine Online
The Bullock Road - Buy Australian Wine OnlineGood evening! This glorious evening I am quaffing a very quaffable blend from our most recent member, Mt Jagged Wines, from Fleurieu, South Australia. Bottled in 2004, from the Fleurieu Peninsula from Mt Jagged Wines, is a heavy, full flavoursome wine with meaty tannins and a nice strong Shiraz peppery bite. Very commendable. On the label: The Bullock Road winds past the front gate of Mt Jagged Vineyard and was used in the 1800's to transport wool and wheat on bullock drays from Victor Harbour to Adelaide. The Cabernet Shiraz blend is an Australian Classic. It opens with good cabernet characteristics mixed through spicy shiraz fruit. The palate has concentrated cassis with soft tannins and a savoury finish with nicely integrated oak in the background." Another bottle with a screw top closure (this will mean the end of "corkage"!) this wine would do well with heavy meat based dishes. It truly is an Australian classic.

German's number one grape - Riesling - becomes Australian rising wine
What is it about with the "Noble rot"? A bit of history: The late harvest wines are the most expensive wines made from Riesling. They are produced by letting the grapes hang on the vines well past normal harvest time. The fungus Botrytis cinerea, also known as "noble rot" causes evaporation (same effect by freezing, as in the case of ice wine (in German, Eiswein)). That means, water is removed. This results in wines with high concentration of sugar (in extreme cases hundreds of grams per litre), more acid (to give balance to all the sugar), more flavor, and more complexity. This allows the Riesling to be amongst the most long lived of all white wines. The beneficial use of "noble rot" was discovered in the late 18th century at Schloss Johannisberg. Permission from the Abbey of Fulda (which owned the vineyard) to start picking the grapes arrived too late and the grapes had begun to rot; yet it turned out that the wine made from them was still of excellent quality. What is the history in Australia? Australia has long been known as the world's most important source of Riesling after Germany. In 1838 William Macarthur planted Riesling vines near Penrith (NSW). Riesling was the most planted white grape in Australia until the early 1990s when Chardonnay greatly increased in popularity. Riesling still flourishes in the Clare Valley, in particular the areas of Watervale and around the Polish Hill River, and the cooler Eden Valley where some sparkling Riesling is produced. The warmer Australian climate produces thicker skinned grapes, sometimes seven(!) times the thickness of German grown grape. The grapes ripening in free drain soil composed of red soil over limestone and shale, producing a lean wine that as it matures produces toasty, honeycomb and lime aromas and flavours. It is common for Australian Rieslings to be fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks with no oxidation of the wine and followed by earlier bottling. Australian Rieslings are noted for their oily texture and citrus fruit flavors in their youth and a smooth balance of freshness and acid as they age. The botrytized Rieslings have immense levels of flavor concentrations that have been favorably compared to lemon marmalade. (Information taken from wikipedia.org)BoutiqueWineries can offer you a wide range of Riesling. Up to 35 different Rieslings are listed from 24 different australian boutique wineries on our website www.BoutiqueWineries.com.au. Through this blog you see several Rieslings presented. They are (from the top to the bottom): Of course they present only a small portion of Rieslings we have on our website. There is still one Riesling I would like to recommend. This High Country Riesling is from one of our newest wineries, Snowy Vineyard Estate (Southern Regions in NSW). It is Australia's coldest vineyard, therefore its Riesling has this particular distinct characteristic of the crispy clean finish and the citrus flavours. With this I would like to wish you a great weekend. Have a look at BoutiqueWineries, plenty of Rieslings are on special. BoutiqueWineries is the online website for boutique wineries in Australia.
