August Newsletter

Ah August! The first signs of spring, still with the cool lingering scent of winter...

And my first newsletter for a little while. I've been hibernating! :o)

I live in Brisbane (in case you didn't know) and Brisbane is just one of those places that is simply adorable during winter. The clear blue skies,
the warm, but still gentle sun. Simply magic. Great weather for wine too. So let me share a few gentle thoughts and wins with you.

There are two achievements that I'm very proud of so far this year: one was of course getting married in January. This one still ranks the highest! (You'll notice that I've now changed my surname in my emails). Jeremiah is my new husband (not that I had an old one mind you), and our wedding was so much fun. You can see the photographs yourself here: My Wedding Photos

The other achievement that I'm very proud of is the Google ranking of Boutique Wineries. I can proudly say that Boutique Wineries is one of the top ranking wine web sites in Australia. We are Number 1 for a range of wine key word searches. For instance with buy wine online we're doing fabulously and boutique Australian wine is also a tremendous result.

Click on each underlined word group above to see for yourself, live!

This is due to your support, your referrals, your word of mouth and of course your purchases. I am very grateful for the help of every one involved.

An excellent Google ranking means that the website can continue to improve and bring you the australian boutique wines you love so much!

Win Wine in Boutique Winery Competitions
There are a couple of competitions on this month, one for existing customers - are you one of them? You would have received a email on it- and of course the usual monthly case of wine competition. I decided to let all of the folks who have entered previous competitions to have another go. Good luck!

Newsletter Topic for August - Wine Regions
I thought I'd talk briefly about the wine regions around Australia in this newsletter. There are about 60 wine regions in Australia. Represented on Boutique Wineries there are about 45 regions (have a look for yourself here: Wine Regions at Boutique Wineries)

Some of the best known regions in Australia are:

  • Granite Belt / Stanthorpe, Queensland (more than 50 cellar doors)
  • Hunter Valley, NSW (more than 120 cellar doors)
  • Barossa, South Australia (more than 50 cellar doors)
  • Clare Valley, South Australia (more than 40 wineries)
  • McLaren Vale, South Australia (more than 100 wineries)
  • Mudgee, NSW (more than 40 wineries)
  • Tasmania (more than 60 wineries)
  • Yarra Valley, Victoria (more than 70 wineries)
  • Margaret River, Western Australia (more than 80 wineries)
  • Swan Valley, Western Australia (more than 25 wineries)

The regions listed above are the more well known wine regions, but did you know about the lesser known ones? Such as:
$45.50 for Lemon Fortified Dessert Wine

$14.50 for Queensland Port

  • Coastal Central Queensland? Warrego Wines. Another Organic
producer of great wines from an unlikely region!

  • Blackwood Valley, Western Australia? Producing wines such as the 2005 Fishbone Cabernet Shiraz by
Blackwood Wines. Another fine drop indeed with the Fishbone
winning silver medals at the 2006 Perth Wine Show and the 2006 Great Australian Red Competition!

$16 for Fishbone Cabernet Shiraz

You might think that all I'm doing is plugging a few wineries. Well, yes I am. That's my job! I'm also pointing out that we have wine being made in most parts of Australia, with each new region bringing with it a delicious chance to experience even more
variety in wine flavours.

Fancy a garlic wine? Wow!? Check out Pacific Blue's 2006 Chef's
Delight
.
What about a wonderful 2003 Grenache/Shiraz that has won 9 wine
show awards! From Grancari Estate Wines, in the more popular known McLaren Vale region of South Australia. (I hope that this one is still
in stock!)

*$22.50 - On Special*

Isn't that what wine is all about? The taste, the experience, and exhilaration of a new taste sensation! Sure, a particular wine may be received very differently by different people, but that is the half the fun!

I have readers in the UK, USA, and from all around Australia, so no matter where you are, please, please enjoy the remainder of August and have a wonderful time enjoying your wines, no matter how you come by them! ;o)

Until next time,

Cheers!

August Competitions

Hi Again!

I'm writing this to thank all of my existing customers of Boutique Wineries. We hope that you enjoyed the wine you
purchased from us!

Because of your loyal support we would like to reward you with a gift: during the month of August, if you purchase more than $195 of wine from Boutique Wineries you will receive a gift bottle of wine chosen from one of our 130 boutique wineries.

This is not all...

If you place any order of any value with us during this month of August you will go into the draw to win a mixed case of wine, valued at over $250. This wine is from our boutique wineries. Note that this competition is only with our previous customers so there is a good
chance that you will win!

Boutique Wineries is Australia's highest ranking wine website on Google - put in buy wine online into google.com.au and see where we rank! So a closed competion like this is good for YOU - there's less competition!

So, place a wine order before the end of August, and you'll go into the draw to wine 12 bottles of wine and if your
order is more than $195, you'll receive a *gift* bottle of wine.

Click HERE to search for your next order now.

Cheers!

Jodie

About organic wines and gift vouchers

We received a lot of interest from people about our gift vouchers last financial year. Those that purchased a voucher in FY07 are now able to purchase wine anytime during this FY08 financial year using last years tax dollars. What a gift!

The gift vouchers make great gifts for your friends. Boutique Wineries Gift Vouchers

I visited the Mind, Body and Spirit festival recently held in Brisbane and I had a ball! Did you go along? I bought myself a few gifts: a new 'fishermans' skirt; had a massage, and had my aura photographed besides catching up with lots of friends. It was a hoot. While there I also met Kevin Watson, who is the chief wine maker of one of our supported wineries, Warrego Wines. Kevin was pleased to tell me that he has recently finished three wonderful fully certified organic wines, a rose, a shiraz, and a sweet shiraz. Click on each name to find out more. Kevin has been so busy that he hasn't been able to put all of the details onto the web site yet.

We've noticed that more and more of our customers are asking for low, or no preservative and organic wines and it's great to see people like Kevin stepping up and producing some very nice product.

Stay tuned as well, as we are investigating the possibility of introducing wonderful exotic wine compliments such as exotic cheeses and almond and pistachio nibbles to have with your wine. We've found a fantastic supplier with access to the kinds of foods you can only dream about!

If you would like to offer suggestions on what you would like to see offered to compliment your wine, just let me know. It would be great ot have your feed back. I might have a gift there for you as well!

I'm also very grateful for everyone who has contributed to the improvements of the site. Belinda of Sunbury, Rod of Brisbane and Lyndell of Sydney, each received 6 bottles of wine as a gift for helping us solve some tricky errors in the web site. This offer is still on, so if you do purchase, or try to purchase and you get an error, send your error to me by email for the chance to receive a gift of wine.

Thanks for your time today and remember the gift vouchers for your friends, and
Warrego Wines for three top quality organic wines.

Until next time,

Cheers!

Jodie

A Joke to Brighten Up Your Day!

Don't Mess with the Oldies!

They always ask at the doctor's office why you are there and you have to answer in front of others what's wrong and sometimes it is embarrassing.

There's nothing worse than a Doctor's receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong with you in a room of other patients. I know most of us have experienced this, and I love the way this old guy handled it:

An 86 year old man walked into a crowded waiting room and approached the desk....

The Receptionist said, "Yes sir, what are you seeing the Doctor for today?"
"There's something wrong with my dick", he replied.

The receptionist became irritated and said, "You shouldn't come into a crowded waiting room and say things like that."
"Why not? You asked me what was wrong and I told you," he said.

The Receptionist replied; "Now you've caused some embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something, and discussed the problem further with the Doctor in private."

The man replied, "You shouldn't ask people questions in a room full of strangers, if the answer could embarrass anyone."

The man walked out, waited several minutes and then re-entered.

The Receptionist smiled smugly and asked, "Yes??"

"There's something wrong with my ear", he stated.

The Receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice.
"And what is wrong with your ear, Sir??"

"I can't piss out of it".

The waiting room erupted in laughter.

Mess with seniors and you're gonna lose!
