wine online from Moonbark EstateMoonbark Estate Vineyard is a small family owned and operated vineyard located on 17.1 hectares of land within the Pyrenees region of Victoria. Established in 1997, the vineyard currently has 4.5 acres of producing Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot grapes. The Vineyard is located at Moonambel, Victoria within the Pyrenees wine region of Australia renowned for producing quality red wines. The current plantings produces on average 9 tonnes of premium quality grapes. wine online from Moonbark EstateThe soils of the vineyard are red clay intermingled with quartz, typical of the soils found within the golden triangle of Central Victoria. Great wines are made in the vineyard and this can only be achieved by careful management of the relationship between soil and vine. Although the vineyard is what I like to call 'miniscule boutique', the production of quality wine on the small scale holds no less challenges than the larger players in the wine industry. The grapes produced on the vineyard are of high quality, ultimately resulting in wine of integrity and quality.

Shiraz from Moonbark EstateThe 2004 Shiraz is a well balanced wine that is drinking very well right now, but will continue to develop in the future. The wine has been matured in French & American oak for 24 months and is displaying lovely pepper spice and black current aromas with a long well rounded palate. Moonbark Shiraz (2002)

Shiraz from Moonbark EstateThe Moonbark 2002 Shiraz is a full bodied wine displaying black pepper spice, a hint of blackberry and rounded off with a balanced integration of oak. The 2002 vintage came from a year that produced only 1.6 tones of grapes per acre. The wine has been matured in American oak hogsheads for 18 months and will continue to develop in the years to come with further cellaring. This wine underwent minimal filtration ensuring maximum colour and flavour is retained. Harmless sediment or crust maybe be present, a consequence of naturally occuring tannins & tartrates. This is a natural self refining process of bottle maturation.
