How to Store a Wine Sealed with a Screw Cap

Storing Screw Cap Wine

A screw cap provides a perfect, inert seal which means every bottle of wine tastes exactly as the winemaker intended. When you drink a wine sealed with a screw cap, you'll find it is as crisp and flavoursome as it was when it left the bottling line.

And what about storing screw capped wine bottles?

Wines with a screw cap closure should be stored just like any other bottle with a cork - preferably in a cool, dark place.

However with a screw cap you can also store the bottle upright. It does not need to be stored on its side.

With cork-sealed bottles, it is critical that the bottles are stored on their sides. This is because the corks will dry out over time and crumble unless they are kept wet. The dry cork will then let in enough air to oxidize the wine, resulting in a less than flavoursome wine.

With screw caps though, it doesn't matter at all how you store the bottles because of the totally inert seal provided by the screw cap. You can store this wine upright, on its side, upside down... whatever you prefer.
