Vasse River Wines - Margaret River, Western Australia

A family owned vineyard situated in the Vasse - Carbunup area, a northern part of the Margaret River wine region. The first vine plantings were established in 1988 in rich gravely loam soils.

Cabernet Merlot (2001)

A wonderful year for both the Cabernet and Merlot varieties in the vineyard. A dark bright red berry colour with aromas of blackcurrant, wild blackberry and mulberries. A hint of chocolate and smokey bacon characters linger on the palate. A rich full bodied wine, this wine is well integrated with oak and the tannins are refined and well balanced.

Verdelho (2003)

The Verdelho displays an exquisite straw colour with a hint of green freshness. A bountiful aroma of guava and lychees present a citrus crispness. The palate is rich and full again showing tropical fruits and peaches. A crisp clean finish displays a good Verdelho wine.

VineCrest 2004 Late Harvest (2004)

The grapes selected for this Late Harvest wine were allowed to mature to full ripeness and harvested many weeks after the normal vintage period. The distinctive "honeyed" aroma has great complexity, enhancing the full rich luscious flavour which is balanced by a clean crisp acidity. A magnificent sweeter style wine which can be enjoyed now or will be greatly enhanced with further bottle maturation.

2007 Virgin Block Sauvignon Blanc

Dry white wine - 100% Sauvignon Blanc Sauvignon Blanc 2007 - Shows fresh, grassy aromas of guava and tropical fruits. Lifted aromas of passionfruit, nectarines and tropical fruit. On the palate fresh flavours of nectarine and guava are balanced by soft acidity and an attractive mouthfeel. Showing good length of flavour and a juicy aftertaste on the finish, this wine is very appealing and is a fine accompaniment to light white meat dishes, including fish and shellfish.

2004 Virgin Block Shiraz

Dry red wine - 100% Shiraz spent 18 months in French oak barrels before being bottled. Can be cellared for up to 10 years Shiraz 2004 - Very deep purple with crimson hues. Light white pepper, blackberries, mulberries and spice aromas are evident with hints of fine oak. The wine shows excellent balance of fine ripe spicy black fruit with elegant French Oak characters in support. There is brilliant palate structure, very long persistence of flavour and an outstanding long finish.
