This wonderful evening I'm reviewing a very pleasant wine from Ballandean Estate Wines, Granite Belt, Queensland. It's a 2007 Sémillon Sauvignon Blanc from Ballandean Estate. Soft and flavoursome the Sémillon blends well with the Sauvignon Blanc giving a very smooth tasting wine. Well done Ballandean!

On the label:

Ballandean Estate is a fourth generation family business that is located in the cool climate Granite Belt of South East Queensland, 850 meters above sea level. Ballandean is Queensland's oldest family owned and operated winery.
A dry, easy drinking style with a perfect balance of tropical fruit flavours and grassy herbaceousness. A vibrant wine that is an excellent accompaniment to all seafood."

With a screw top closure this is a easy wine to open and an easy wine to drink, and pairs nicely with fresh prawns, fish and even sushi, usually hard to match with wine. This is a smooth and sophisticated wine that is surprising for one so young.

As a winemaking family dynasty Ballandean Estate are justifiably proud of their reputation, their brand, and their pioneering role in the establishment of the Queensland Wine Industry.
