Australian Wine Review - Sandstone Semillon

Top Australian Wine: Sandstone Wine Review

Good evening!
Today on this fine Australia Day I am reviewing the 2001 Semillon from Sandstone - a top Australian winery, in Margaret River, Western Australia.

On the label:

Tardy. Vivacious. Walnut. Vanilla. Longevity. Peachy.

With the semantics complete, our broader philosophy is that wine shouldn't be taken too seriously. Great wine is made better by the company of good friends and good food. In a world that is moving faster, please take time to relax and enjoy our wine and while we are the supporters of moderation we also believe that if the temptation to open another bottle is too great, just do it. We do!"

With a screw top closure, this wine is a fine example of a nicely aged Semillon wine. The nose presents a subtle smoothness and aroma whilst the smooth texture and palate are highly notable on the tongue. This is a fine example of a well cellared beauty. Unfortunately no long in stock, if you can get hold of it then grab it quick. Another Australian wine classic.

Sandstone is a small owner operated winery specialising in straight varietals. At the same time not too serious, it's all about enjoyment and having fun!!
