Kanjara - Australian Shiraz

Established in 1988, the Ibis and Habitat Vineyards produce a large range of red and white wines. They attach importance to older and unusual varieties. And I think I tried one unusual one last night. This strong flavour .. uuhhh. This is an Australian Shiraz you won't forget. But let me describe it.
I chose the Ibis "Kanjara" Shiraz from 2001. The winemaker put these words on the label: The grapes for this wine come from the low vigour Kanjara vineyard at an altiude of 830 metres. Plum blackberry tar tobacco and smoke - this wine is full of strong flavours overlaying nicely integrated french oak.The wine has good balance and a warm long finish. A good accompaniment to strong meat dishes and cheeses.
Ok, I didn't have strong cheese or meat at home, just this Australian Shiraz. And yes, I can recommended to you, if you are a lover of strong wines. I am always impressed, how they can put all these flavours into wine. This Australian Shiraz is available for only $18 a bottle, or even only $17 a bottle when u buy a case of them. Try it and let us know how you think about these strong flavours!
