October Boutique Wineries Newsletter - Gold Winning Wine In Time for Buying Wine fo Christmas!

Hi There!

Buying wine this month and getting ready for Christmas? Then check out the Boutique Wineries October newsletter first

I hope that you are having a wonderful October. I know that I am! :o)

This is my first newsletter to you all and I must say it's a privilege to send you my very first one. Jodie is off on a two week camping expedition to the Blue Mountains with her husband Jeremiah shortly so she's getting ready for that. She tell's me she can't wait!

We sponsored the Brisbane Lions Gala Auction held recently in Brisbane (go the Lions!) and they have been kind enough to give us a letter of appreciation. I thought that I'd share it with you. It only arrived the other day in the mail. That was a fun thing to do!

Go the Lions

(for next season!!)

One of our member wineries won big at the Hunter Valley Boutique Winemakers Show held recently: For their Verdelho,
Foate's Ridge won a Gold Medal and was awarded the Trophy
as the best Verdelho
at the 2007 Hunter Valley Boutique Winemakers Show! So, if you want to drink an award winning white then don't
go past this wine. And at only $17.50 it is an excellent price for a Gold medal wine. (I recommend a case actually. Imagine what it might
be like - or even worth - in 5 years time!!). They also won with their first ever Rose, so have a look at that as well.

The proud proprietor of Foate's Ridge, Tony Foate, shows off the Trophy he received from the Hunter
Valley Boutique Winemakers Show for the best Verdelho. Good on ya Tony and well done!

Friday Monkey Wines: produce really good wines, so please
check them out. I love their Merlot; and
their Chardonnay is a wonderful drop. (Both are only $14.99 by the way).

Christmas Special - Friday Monkey Shiraz
1 Case of 12 bottles for $99 plus a free box of chocolates - while they last!!

That's almost half price!!

Friday Monkey Wines contacted me recently to tell me that they are offering a free box of chocolates with every 12 bottles of their
wonderful Shiraz. They are offering them at $8.25 per bottle when purchased in lots of 12 or more. That's a great discount from their regular $14.99.
So please make sure you check this out as well. Chocolates - yummy!

The offer ends soon so be quick!

I learnt something very interesting the other day about screw caps used on wine bottles. There are two types of
plastic seals that can be used under the cap: one that seals completely, keeping all of the air out, and another that actually allows
some air to enter into the bottle – just like a cork does. How about that eh? I never knew that. In Australia we use only the 100% air tight
variety of seals (mostly). One of the arguments against screw caps is that some wines need a touch of air to soften and mellow out the flavours.
Well that's the theory anyway. I suppose that with this 'breathing seal' screw caps can be as good as corks!
I wonder how we'll tell from looking at the bottle?

And remember our specials! Click here!

There are lots of special wines at special prices here at Boutique Wineries. I was having a look at the prices the other day and
over 50% of the wines listed on Boutique Wineries are under $15. That's a bargain
considering you can't get most of these wines unless you drive to the cellar door!

Oh and I almost forgot, the winner of last month's competition draw is Beckie
Endebrock in Texas, USA! Beckie wins 2 bottles of wine valued at $29.95. It's great to see our friends across the Pacific check out our
home grown products. Congratulations Beckie and enjoy your wine! (I hope that US customs doesn't intercept your prize for themselves!)

Here's a beautiful quote I found that I'd like to share with you:

'No thing more excellent nor more valuable than wine was ever granted mankind by God.' -
Plato c.427 BC - c. 347 BC

Nice isn't it. All of those years ago, wine was appreciated for its truly fine nature. Just one more reason to make sure you buy from Boutique
Wineries and not mass produced wine. Mass produced wine doesn't have the character that
boutique wines do. Plato would have only enjoyed Boutique Wines.

So until next month, au-revoir, auf wiedersehen, arrivederci and Cheers!
