How Long does an Open Bottle of Wine Last?

How quickly should you drink a bottle of wine once it has been opened?

Here’s a rule of thumb for how long you can expect an open bottle of wine to last!

1 - 2 days for light white wines (e.g. Riesling), red wines (e.g. Pinot Noir), pink wines and sparkling wines.

3 - 4 days for fuller-bodied white wines (e.g. Chardonnay), fuller-bodied red wines (e.g. Shiraz) and sweet white wines.

1 - 2 weeks for pale dry sherry and vintage port.

3 months for tawny port, muscat, tokay and sweet sherry.
